Welcome to my Training Journal page.  This is where I keep an accurate account of all
my training sessions.  Please feel free to read and follow along with all my training
sessions.  On these pages you will see who runs wear in the team and an accurate
tracking of each dogs mileage under harness.  If you are new to the sport, use this
journal as a training guide to prevent some of the mistakes I have made.  If you are a
veteran and see something I could be doing better please drop me a line.  Enjoy!

Team Order

Tundra / 2.6 Miles       Toast / 2.6 Miles
Dirty / 2.6 Miles          Mack / 2.6 Miles
Ducky / 2.6 Miles            Crazy Willie / 2.6 Miles
Rocky / 2.6 Miles      Ajax / 2.6 Miles

Distance approx. 2.6 miles/38 Degrees

NOTES: This was a pretty good run.  It was Ducky’s first run.  He is a hard puller and stayed
pretty focused during the run.  I am very impressed with his performance.  I think I finally have
a good pair for lead.  Tundra and Toast ran at lead together very well today.  I will keep them
up front for now.  Every one ran well and no one seemed to run out of steam today.  Overall a
very good day.

Team Order

Tundra / 5.2 Miles           Toast / 5.2 Miles
Dirty / 5.2 Miles               Mack / 5.2 Miles
Sunny / 2.6 Miles            Fawn / 2.6 Miles
Rocky / 5.2 Miles          Ajax / 5.2 Miles

Distance approx. 2.6 miles/48 Degrees

NOTES: Today was Sunny’s first run in the team.  He was very submissive at first.
I was afraid that he might not run at first.  But he took care of my fears when we took off. He
pulled pretty good although he does have some attention issues.  This I hope is just a result of
him being a puppy.  Over all I am very pleased with his performance and he shows great
potential.  It was a little warmer today so I had fears of the team over heating and slowing
down considerably due to the heat.  To my surprise they didn’t.  If anything I am starting to
notice the strength of the team improving.  I am very pleased with the team order and am
going to keep it this way.  Another great run!

Team Order

Tundra / 7.8 Miles         Toast / 7.8 Miles
Dirty / 7.8 Miles             Mack / 7.8 Miles
Micky / 0 Miles              Ewok / 2.6 Miles
Rocky / 7.8 Miles        Ajax / 7.8 Miles

Distance approx. 2.6 miles/38 Degrees

NOTES: Today was Mickey’s first time hooked with the team.  It didnt work out so well for
him.  When we hooked him up it was apparent that he might not get up and run.  I moved the
team down the driveway in hopes that he would get up and run.  But he didnt.  So we had to
unhook him to complete the run.  I will have to do some one on one training with him in order
to see if he will be on the team one day.  The main team did very good today.  They are getting
faster and stronger with every training session.  Today was the first day that Ann didnt cross
the road by the house or even get out of her vehicle at the first road crossing.  The leaders
still don’t obey Gee or Haw.  I think it will come with time.

Team Order

Tundra / 10.4 Miles        Toast / 10.4 Miles
Dirty / 10.4 Miles            Mack / 10.4 Miles
Crazy Willie / 5.2          Zoro / 2.6 Miles
Rocky / 10.4 Miles       Ajax / 10.4 Miles

Distance approx. 2 miles/50 Degrees

NOTES: Today was Zoro’s first run in the team.  I was really excited to run.  He behaved
pretty good in line when waiting to take off.  When we took off he jumped right in and started
pulling.  He had some issues however.  One being that he didnt stay on the right side, he kept
going over to the left side with Crazy Willie.  On a side note Crazy Willie makes a pretty good
partner for these young pups.  He puts up with a lot and doesnt take it out on them.  Zoro
pulled hard but had trouble staying focused.  He was always looking behind and around.
Over all I am very pleased with his performance and he shows great potential.  Again a
another good run.

Team Order

Tundra / 13 Miles         Toast / 13 Miles
Dirty / 13 Miles             Mack / 13 Miles
Wolf / 2.6 Miles              Fawn / 5.2 Miles
Rocky / 13 Miles         Ajax / 13 Miles

Distance approx. 2.6 miles/20 Degrees

NOTES: Today was Wolf’s first run with the team.  We could tell right away that he was going
to be a runner.  He was ready to run.  He started out very well then about 1/4 into the run he
started looking behind him a lot.  As of a matter of fact he almost tripped on himself several
times.  But after a while he finally settled down and focused on his run.  I think he is going to
be a hard charger.  We decided to switch the new long distance harness from Rocky to
toast today.  The harness is a Medium and I think it is just a little bit to small for Rocky.  It
seemed to fit Toast just fine.  There were no issues with her wearing it.  Today’s pace was
the fastest one yet.  We were going about 13 miles per hour the hole run.  At the end I let
them run it out for a sprint.  They seemed to enjoy that.  It was also the first day that hardly
any help was needed.  They just might be geeting used to the route.  My concern is that they
arent really learning Gee and Haw but that there getting used to the route and just know
where to go.  I am going to stretch out the runs Im just not sure when yet.  Overall a very
good Thanksgiving run.

Team Order

Tundra / 15.6 Miles           Toast / 15.6 Miles
Dirty / 15.6 Miles               Mack / 15.6 Miles
Pretty / 0 Miles                Fawn / 7.8 Miles
Rocky / 15.6 Miles          Ajax / 15.6 Miles

Distance approx. 2.6 miles/30 Degrees

NOTES: Well we tried putting Pretty in the team today.  It didn’t work out too well.  She didn’t
want to run so I stopped the team right away and pulled her out.  Todays pace was the
fastest yet.  I think we averaged about 13 miles per hour.  We should probably up the
mileage but I am thinking about trying something different.  Because I would like to have
some dogs for back up in case I can make a race this year I am thinking about trying to up
the amount of dogs I put in the team.  I think tomorrow I will try a 12 dog team with Fawn,
Crazy Willie, Ewok and Ducky as full time team members.  I think I will try that out for maybe
a couple of weeks and then hopefully up it to a 14 dog team with the addition of Zorro and
Wolf.  After a couple of weeks of running the same coarse with that team I will increase the
length of the run.  This way I can train 14 dogs and this will leave me with more of an option
when it comes time to go racing.  I will try it out tomorrow and see how it works.

Team Order

Tundra / 18.2 Miles          Toast / 18.2 Miles
Dirty / 18.2 Miles              Mack / 18.2 Miles
Crazy Willy / 7.8 Miles    Zorro / 5.2 Miles
Ewok / 5.2 Miles           Wolf / 5.2 Miles
Fawn / 10.4                       Ducky / 5.2 Miles
Rocky / 18.2 Miles          Ajax / 18.2 Miles

Distance approx. 2.6 miles/20 Degrees

NOTES: Phewwww....Today we hooked up 12 dogs.  You wouldnt think just adding 4 dogs
would be that big of a deal but it is.  It takes a good bit longer to harness them all up and
take them out to the line.  I have decided to run Zorro, Wolf and Ducky full time with the
team.  I think these three dogs are the most advanced of Rocky’s pups.  They all did really
good.  The team order worked out real well also.  I had to stop twice to untangle the team.
Once for Toast, for some reason her new harness went between her back legs, and also
Wolf got tangled up.  But over all a good run.  I will stick with this line up for a while.
01 Dec 05

Team Order

Tundra / 20.8 Miles             Toast / 20.8 Miles
Dirty / 20.8 Miles                 Mack / 20.8 Miles
Crazy Willy / 10.4 Miles     Zorro / 7.8 Miles
Ewok / 7.8 Miles              Wolf / 7.8 Miles
Fawn / 13 Miles                   Ducky / 7.8 Miles
Rocky / 20.8 Miles              Ajax / 20.8 Miles

Distance approx. 2.6 miles/10 Degrees

NOTES: One word would summarize this outing.......Brrrrrrrrrrr.  This was the coldest day I
have been out with the dogs and it was cold.  Makes me wish this was called “Beaching”
instead of Mushing.  Over all another great run.  Every one did really well to include the
pups.
